New information about the Reno 8 series of smartphones appeared online only a few days after the manufacturer unveiled its new Reno 7 series in Kenya. Several rumors have surfaced on the internet claiming to reveal the Reno 8’s projected technical specifications. Following the hotly fought competition for the first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Xiaomi and Motorola battle it out; the race for the next mid-range CPU from Qualcomm is on.
Even though the potential of a competition between the manufacturers for this SoC remains questionable, Oppo seems to be on the verge of equipping the first of its upcoming Oppo Reno 8 models with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
As a reminder, Qualcomm has yet to introduce the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor officially. However, rumors suggest that this next processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, will be released before May 2023. For the Oppo Reno 8, as seen by the Digital chat station, the smartphone will be paired with Oppo’s MariSilicon X processor, which specializes in photography.
Digging to other segments in this novelty, we discover that the smartphone would come with a 6.55-inch screen with full HD + 120 Hz refresh rate and a fingerprint scanner underneath the screen. Three cameras would be found on the back: a 50-megapixel IMX766, an 8-megapixel sensor for an extremely wide-angle, and a 2-megapixel sensor. A selfie camera with a resolution of 32 megapixels would be available. A 4500 mAh battery with an 80W rapid charge would also benefit the phone.

As a reminder, the Oppo Reno 8’s design somewhat resembles that of the OnePlus 10 Pro, with the picture block, in particular, taking on the style of the OnePlus 10 Pro. No official prices have been suggested, but it is possible that its pricing will be somewhat more than those of the Reno 7 series.
