Egypt-based petcare platform Vework, a petcare-at-home platform that connects pet parents with pet care service providers in a timely manner and conveniently at home has raised a bridge round that included several investors from Saudi Arabia and members from Alexandria Angel Network as well as receiving financial support from Nestlé Purina and conducting a POC (proof of concept) together.  The amount raised was not disclosed.

Vetwork, founded by Fady Azzouny and co-founded by Adam Hafez, aims to tackle all of the pet owner’s needs and concerns such as the fact that vets operate without monitoring, not being able to reach vets at a convenient time, not having accurate ratings for vets, and much more.

To solve all of this, Vetwork offers several services all in favour of pet owners; grooming specialities, online pet shops, vets, dog walkers, dog trainers, and boarding facilities all in one place.

Fady, Founder and CEO of Vetwork, said “We’re so proud of what we have achieved so far, who else has been innovating in the PetCare industry in MENA? Vetwork has paved the way for many entrepreneurs looking to pursue opportunities in our industry! Now, plans are in place and resources in terms of an amazing team, cash and partnerships are available, the coming phase for us in Vetwork is extremely exciting, stay tuned!”

With over 400 pet care service providers and over 38,000 pets served, Vetwork has a goal of disrupting the pet care industry.

Middle East and Africa pet care market is led by global companies Mars Inc. and Nestle Purina who together dominated the pet food market. RCL Foods, Ball & Coalter Foods, K9 Pet Foods, Promeal (Pty) Ltd, and Supreme Petfoods Limited are also strong pet food companies in the region with their strong presence in South Africa and other African countries.
