Jumia has announced the appointment of Juan Seco as the new CEO for Jumia Kenya. He takes over the mantle from Betty Mwangi who has been with the company CEO for the last 9 months.
Under his new appointment, he will focus on accelerating corporate growth as the company continues to expand its already strong position as the number one shopping online platform.
Juan brings on board years of financial experience of experience having worked in the company that cuts across several roles that saw Jumia bloom to where it is. He is a Member of the founding team of JumiaPay, the fintech arm of Jumia. He has been at the forefront of leading the deployment across all the markets where Jumia Group ventures are present of JumiaPay as well as future financing solutions for both Jumia merchants and customers among other duties.
Prior to his new appointment as Jumia CEO, Juan has been with Jumia Kenya since 2015 when he joined as Chief Financial Officer. In 2017, he became part of the founding team of JumiaPay, as Chief Operating Officer overseeing the expansion and deployment of JumiaPay across Jumia markets.
In 2019, he was also named Senior Vice President of Consumer Financial Services leading fintech initiatives and the JumiaPay App, which is now available in eight countries.
