A new car company founded by famed Formula One designer Gordon Murray, the brains behind the McLaren F1 supercar, has established a presence in the United States. Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) will be the company’s name.

The automaker, whose first two products are the T.50 and T.33 supercars, has formed Gordon Murray Automotive Inc. to oversee its operations in the United States. It will be based in Eastern Florida but its exact location is to be announced later. The site will also be the base for the T.33’s North American delivery, which begins in 2024.

GMA will debut the T.50 and T.33 in the United States on Friday at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, one of the premier events of 2022 Monterey Car Week. Dario Franchitti, a successful IndyCar and NASCAR driver and GMA spokesman, will also be present to test the company’s supercars at Laguna Seca.

GMA will continue to offer supercars in the future, but the company has confirmed that it will also expand into other segments. It is already planning an electric SUV.

GMA is part of the larger Gordon Murray Group, whose research and development arm, Gordon Murray Technology (GMT) , is working on the electric SUV.

GMT can also develop vehicles for other companies and is already working on a separate electric SUV for an unnamed OEM.

“We are incredibly excited to officially launch Gordon Murray Automotive in America and announce the Gordon Murray Automotive Center for the North American market,” Philip Lee, Gordon Murray Group’s CEO, said in a statement. “Monterey Car Week is the ultimate event to communicate such an important milestone for our company.”
