Samsung has just announced the release of their new “8K” 32:9 gaming monitor, the Odyssey Neo G9. With a resolution of 7680 x 2160 pixels, this ultra-wide, curved panel (radius of curvature is 1,000R) is the equivalent of two 4K panels placed side by side.
The panel uses quantum mini LED technology with a matte finish to reduce reflections and has a refresh rate of 240 Hz, with support for DisplayPort 2.1.
In addition to the Odyssey Neo G9, Samsung has also announced the release of the Odyssey OLED G9. This model uses quantum dot OLED technology, offering pixel-by-pixel control and almost infinite contrast.
The screen has a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels, equivalent to two quad-HD panels side by side, and boasts a response time of 0.1ms and a refresh rate of 240Hz.
The Odyssey OLED G9 will include applications from partners such as Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube, as well as the Samsung Gaming Hub for gaming via Microsoft or NVIDIA cloud systems.
No pricing or release date has been announced for either of these monitors. Stay tuned for more information.
