Chevrolet Camaro will be dead officially after 2024

Chevrolet has announced that the sixth-generation Camaro will be phased out at the end of the 2024 model year, confirming long-held rumors. Fortunately, the Camaro nameplate is not completely dead, but the automaker has yet to confirm what will happen next.

The announcement is not very surprising considering that the Camaro has been selling in far few numbers than its rivals, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenge. “As we prepare to say goodbye to the current generation Camaro, it is difficult to overstate our gratitude to every Camaro customer, Camaro assembly line employee and race fan,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Global Chevrolet. “While we are not announcing an immediate successor today, rest assured, this is not the end of Camaro’s story.”

The final sixth-generation Camaro will be produced at the automaker’s Grand River Assembly Plant in Michigan in January 2024. Chevrolet will at the very least offer a special model to mark the end of this era. A Collector’s Edition package will be available on RS and SS models, with orders beginning in 2023. In addition, expect limited quantities of their top-tier Camaro ZL1.

There are also rumors suggesting everything from a new Camaro SUV just like the Mustang Mach-E, to an electric sedan. Let’s wait and see which direction Chevy will take.
