Nigeria’s Kora launches USD Card-Acquiring Feature to boost African Merchants’ Global Trade Participation

Kora ,a Nigerian payments provider that enables local and global businesses to sell, build and scale has launched  USD card-acquiring feature that will accept payments in US dollars.

This product is intended to accelerate Africa’s participation in global trade by helping merchants to create truly global businesses and contribute to the growth of Africa’s digital payments market.

Sandra Israel-Ovirih,Kora’s head of product said, “Incorporating USD card payments has been a priority for a while now. This will be a game changer for African businesses selling to a global market.”

Since its launch in 2018, the payment infrastructure offers a robust payment API for payment collections, disbursements, and cross-border settlements with offices in Nigeria, Canada, and the United Kingdom

Recently Kora launched a series of merchant-facing initiatives, including changing its name to Kora, moving its domain name to www.korahq.com, and launching a new corporate website.

It’s Payin service enables merchants to receive customer payments using a variety of popular payment methods, including mobile money, bank transfers, and cards.

The launch of its USD card-acquiring feature in Africa is a significant development that is expected to benefit the continent’s merchants by increasing their participation in global trade.

 The feature which has the to accept payments in US dollars will enable African businesses to compete in a global market. This product will enable businesses to scale globally and contribute to Africa’s participation in global trade, which currently stands at around 3%.
