Carrefour Partners with Visa to Provide Customers with Online Discounts

Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in Kenya, has announced its partnership with Visa, the global leader in digital payments, to offer discounts to customers shopping via its online platform. The online campaign, which will run every Tuesday, offers customers who shop on the MAF Carrefour Mobile app and pay with locally issued Visa cards a discount of KES 400 for goods worth KES 3,000 and above.

The campaign will run for three months from June to September 2023.

Commenting on the partnership, Christophe Orcet, Regional Director of Carrefour – East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, stated: “With inflation putting pressure on household incomes, customers are now more than ever looking for flexible payment solutions. Our aim is to make it easier for them to maximize their savings through various offers. As a business, we understand that maintaining affordability and quality products while offering customers convenient payment options are key components that elevate the customer experience. We’re thrilled to expand our offerings through our partnership with Visa.”

Kenya has been at the forefront of the digital payments offering in Africa, showcasing significant economic growth. The use of digital payment services has also increased financial inclusion, reduced transaction costs, and improved efficiency for businesses.

Eva Ngigi-Sarwari, Country Manager, Visa Kenya, added: “We are excited to partner with Carrefour Kenya to bring safe, secure and convenient options that help improve payment experiences for customers both at their online and physical stores. Additionally, the zero costs associated with paying using a Visa card means that customers have more money to spend on shopping or to save the extra amount that would have gone to transaction charges. As more and more customers continue to move away from cash payments to digital payments, it is increasingly important for businesses to offer digital payment options, and this is where we come in to help bridge the gap.”
