Blackjack is one of the most popular casino games and a few players have enjoyed it so much that they have made the game into their professional career.

Although, it’s vital to remember that only a select few have done this and as Blackjack is a chance-based game, there’s no certainty of success or a career.

With this being said, let’s get into one of the most famous casino online and land-based games ever and have a look at some of the most legendary Blackjack players in the world!

Ken Uston

Uston is one of the first Blackjack superstars and earned millions of dollars playing Blackjack, which was an unimaginable amount for Blackjack players at that time in the 1970s.

Gaining this massive reputation early on meant that he made a huge impact on the game that many know and love to play today.

He was also known for popularising team playing within Blackjack and ran an extremely profitable Blackjack team in the late 1970s.

With this being one of the most influential Blackjack players of all time, the standards have already been set high…

Stanford Wong

He might be best known as this, but his real name is John Ferguson, known for his book on casino gaming called ‘Professional Blackjack’.

He didn’t first seek out a career in professional gaming, it was an extra source of money alongside his education.

If you didn’t know who invented the ‘Blackjack Analyzer’ – it was Wong and it’s a piece of software that analyses Blackjack odds. So, if you’ve ever heard the term ‘wonging’, it’s one of the methods used in his first book.

Don Johnson

Due to it being a chance-based game, it’s an accomplishment to see success at one casino venue, however, Johnson is known for winning over $15 million in six months at three casinos in Atlantic City.

He even gained a six-month success streak, which got him barred from all of Caesar’s casinos worldwide!

James Grosjean

This is one of the best professional Blackjack players, who was introduced to the game during his university days.

Like Wong, he also has books published on casino gaming, where he gives a mathematical explanation of advantage play in casino gaming.

Not only this accomplishment, but he is the youngest ever player to be featured in the Blackjack Hall of Fame!

Russ Hamilton

With so many Blackjack players being celebrated for their achievements, this man is instead one of the most controversial casino players.

Two things that most people can agree on though, is his influence on Blackjack and the great skills that he has in the game.

You may know him most by his invention of Elimination Blackjack, which combines classic Blackjack with parts of No Limit Texas Hold’em.

Alongside this, he won many achievements in the game, including a bracelet at the 1994 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Although, these achievements soon became overshadowed by the 2009 ‘Ultimate Bet’ cheating scandal, where it was found that him and the Ultimate Bet online platform cheated players out of up to $22 million!

Understandably, his reputation suffered greatly and he took a step back from the casino gaming scene…

Going from some of the most celebrated players to one of the most controversial, it’s clear that Blackjack has stood the test of time – so will you be playing one of the most popular casino games anytime soon?
