If you’ve downloaded the app and are wondering why your feed is filled with posts from strangers, don’t worry.
Instagram’s new Twitter rival is called Threads. The newest social networking platform, developed by Meta, which also owns Facebook, allows you to post, share, and reply to messages in a maximum of 500 characters.
If you’re already an Instagram user, then when you sign up to Threads, you’re presented with an instant following.
But users who downloaded the app when it was released earlier this week were in for a bit of a surprise.
They were presented with Threads from complete strangers instead of a feed filled of known faces.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to limit your Threads timeline to just those you’re following like there is on rival Twitter.
Although Meta has stated that they would roll out this feature soon, we now have a hack that will limit your alerts and threads to only those you follow.
How to change your threads so that your followers appear first
- Open the Threads app, then press the profile symbol in the lower-right corner.
- To open the settings menu, tap the two lines in the top right corner of the screen.
- Find “Notifications” in the settings menu and press it.
- The next step is to choose “Threads and replies” from the list of possibilities.
- Likes, Replies, Mentions, Reports, Quotes, and First Threads are just a few of the options you’ll run into. Tap each of these choices, then select “From people you know.”
- To get back to your feed, tap the Home symbol. Now on Threads, you ought to only see posts from users you follow, providing a more recognizable and tailored experience.
Restoring Default Settings: Use the same procedures as previously and choose “Everyone” to return to the default settings and view posts from a larger variety of users.
