You can register for NEMIS and update student information online after registering an account. The education department’s data management is automated through NEMIS. Additionally, it has lessened the tiresome old paperwork.

- A computer (preferably running on Windows 7 or 10 for stability).
- stable internet connection (2 Mbps minimum download speed on at least 3G)
- a camera for use in capturing student passport photos
- birth certificates of students
- (If you are hiring staff members) National ID cards
You need to be a member of the organizations listed below in addition to holding the aforementioned items/documents.

- Activate your browser.
- Visit the NEMIS webpage.
- The “Register (if new)” link can be found on the portal’s left side.
- Select your organization
- If you’d like, you can use your email address as your username.
- Submit your username and additional names.
- Enter your ID number after choosing your gender.
- Choose the position you hold with the chosen organization.
- Next, list the duties of your role.
- Choose your department and category from the section.
- Enter your mobile number and username, which is also your email address.
- Retype your password once you enter it.
- Select “Save”
- You will need to wait for your supervisor to activate the account after you receive an SMS verifying your registration.
Notably, administrators and teachers are not permitted to register on the platform.

To access your NEMIS account after it has been activated, follow the steps listed below.
- visit nemis.education.co.ke to log in
- Enter your username (which is your email address) and password
- Click “Log in”
- The portal will open, and you will have administrator privileges to enter data in the various modules. The NEMIS modules allow you to enter and edit data in different categories. Let’s look at it.
Modules for NEMIS
Four categories make up the NEMIS modules. As follows:
Institutions Module
Using this module, you can:
- Report emergencies
- Register your institution
- List the facilities at your institution.
- activities that the school offers outside of the classroom.
- The offered educational and instructional materials
Learners Module
The following information is covered in the learner module:
- Unique Personal Identification (UPI) number for students, which is used to identify the student
- student performance information
- Change of school information (you must note a student’s new school information if they change schools)
- Student talent
- Registration of learners
You’ll need the following information from the students in order to register them:
- pupil name (as it appears on the birth certificate)
- Date of birth
- The students’ or pupils’ nationality
- home county and sub-county of the pupil
- Pupils gender
- Any special needs
- Parent names and contacts
- Parents’ or guardian’s identification numbers and official phone numbers
Staff Module
The teachers employed by TSC are included in the staff modules. Make sure to fill out the following information:
- Teachers’ roles and responsibilities assigned by the school
- Transfer of teachers
- The specialized subjects taught by each teacher in the school
- Study areas (the institutions where the teachers received their education)
Finance Module
- The complete school’s books of account are included in the finance module. the balance sheets and ledgers. Among the information entered in this module are:
- Total school revenue (including tuition, fines, etc.)
- Fee structures
- Expenditure returns (this shows what the institution has done with the allocated development fund)
- Development funds (government-funded initiatives like food programs, building schools or subsidiaries)

How to Fill In Form 1 Students using the NEMIS Portal
- Students on NEMIS Portal Get school reporting documents (admission letters?)
- Use your UPI and password to access the school’s NEMIS portal.
- Go to the learner module on the dashboard.
- A drop-down choice will appear; choose admit/capture.
- Use the student’s KCPE index or UPI number to search for them.
- To enroll them in your school, click admit.
How to Register a Student in a Primary School
- Access the NEMIS website.
- Go to the learners module on the dashboard.
- Since you are currently registering students rather than admitting them, select the registration option.
- Fill out the space with all the information.
- Verify the accuracy of the information and save it.
How to Find Your NEMIS Number
- Go to the official NEMIS website Navigate to the registration choices option
- Locate the activation menu on the dashboard.
- Your phone will receive an OTP.
- Copy the OTP send to your phone and enter it to your computer
- A text message with your NEMIS number will be sent soon.
