Tala Appoints Annstella Mumbi as General Manager for its Kenya Unit

Tala, the renowned digital lending company, has named Annstella Mumbi as the new General Manager for its Kenya Unit.

With a distinguished background in fintech, EdTech and venture funding across various African markets, Ms Mumbi is set to lead Tala Kenya to new heights.

Ms Mumbi has been serving as the interim GM since May and her official appointment solidifies her position as the leader of Tala Kenya.

Her journey with Tala began three years ago when she joined the company as the Global Director of Growth and later took on the role of Senior Growth Strategy Manager for Tala Kenya.

In her newly appointed role, Ms Mumbi will be at the helm of a team of 130 professionals, overseeing Tala’s transformation into a comprehensive financial services provider in the upcoming year. This marks an exciting development for the company and its mission to further financial inclusion in Kenya.

Annstella Mumbi’s career trajectory has been marked by an impressive and diverse set of experiences. Before joining Tala, she was actively involved in the Kenyan startup scene. She spent two years as a Venture Scout at Microtraction and remained connected to the world of venture capital as she took on the role of Venture Partner and Investor at RaliCap. In this capacity, she actively supports early-stage startups in East Africa with pre-seed and seed funding.

Her expertise extends beyond the realm of startups and venture capital. As a Growth Strategy Consultant at Moringa School, she honed her skills in nurturing tech ventures. Her journey began at Unilever, where she worked as an SAP Consultant, and she also interned at the same company.

Ms Mumbi’s dedication to making a positive impact on the African tech ecosystem is evident through her involvement with ImpactAfrica Network. In this organization, she played a pivotal role in connecting innovators and change-makers to drive positive change throughout the continent.

In addition to her impressive professional journey, Ms Mumbi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from JKUAT, underscoring her commitment to excellence in her field.

With her extensive experience and passion for technology and innovation, Ms Mumbi is well-positioned to lead Tala Kenya into a successful future.
