Carl Pei the founder of Nothing Phone learned quite a bit from his former company Oneplus. Starting off with a low cost flagship then later introducing an affordable midrange version. That’s exactly the strategy he’s taking with the upcoming Nothing Phone 2a.
At launch, Nothing Phone 2, the company’s current flagship, costs $599, a huge bargain from the $1000 price tags other brands are asking for. The company is going further to introduce an even cheaper device, the Nothing Phone 2a.
According to a leaked image posted by Smartprix and @OnLeaks, the Nothing Phone (2a) will lack one of the key features that made the first two Nothing phones stand out: the light glyph design on the back that allowed the phone to use a series of LED lights to display custom alerts, among other things.
On a positive note, the 2a will keep the distinct semi – transparent back panel Nothing devices are known for. The leaked photo of the transparent rear confirms the luck of wireless charging since the necessary circuitry on top of the battery is not embedded.
Other specifications of the device include dual rear cameras, specifically, a Samsung S5KGN9 50MP image sensor, while the secondary camera would be a 50MP Samsung S5KGN1 camera. At the front is a 32MP front-facing Sony IMX615 selfie camera.
Nothing Phone 2a is rumored to run on MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor, and have a 2412 x 1084 pixel, 120 Hz OLED display.
Lastly, the company could introduce the Nothing Phone (2a) on February 27th during this year’s Mobile World Congress event.
