WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform, has recently announced a series of updates designed to improve user experience and functionality.
In a statement released on Thursday, the company revealed that users can now pin up to three messages in both individual and group chats, a significant upgrade from the previous limit of one pinned message per conversation. This feature, initially introduced in December 2023, has been well-received by users who appreciate the ability to prioritise important information.
The newly enhanced pinning feature allows users to save crucial details, such as a friend’s address or a group outing location, for quick and easy access. WhatsApp has made the process even more convenient by enabling users to pin any type of message, including text, images, and even polls. To pin a message, users simply need to long-press on the desired message and select “Pin.” Additionally, users can now set the duration for which a message remains pinned, with options ranging from 24 hours to 7 days (the default) or 30 days. This ensures that pinned messages automatically disappear once the information is no longer relevant.
While pinned messages provide a convenient way to access important information, it is essential to note that they do not remain indefinitely.
The maximum duration for a pinned message is 30 days, after which users will need to re-pin the message if it remains relevant. As an alternative, users can “Star” a message for long-term access. Starred messages are stored in the contact’s info section, making them easy to locate when needed.
