In an attempt to disrupt Twitter’s dominance, Mark Zuckerbeg’s Meta introduced Threads, which in just one day attracted millions of users. Similar to Twitter, Threads is a text-based conversation software where your account is set to public by default. You have the option to make your Threads account private if you choose to share content with just those who you have permitted to see. In this manner, nobody can access or engage with your content unless you permit them to follow you. Therefore, take the actions listed below to make your Threads account private.

  1. Open the Threads application, then select your profile from the bottom-right corner.
  1. Press the menu button in the upper-right corner.
  1. Next, select “Privacy” from the options menu.
  1. Toggle the “Private profile” on now, and then select “OK” from the pop-up box.

By doing this, you can make your Threads account private so that only followers who have been approved can view and engage with your posts. Remember that this won’t change how visible your Instagram account is.

To restore your account to its previous state of public access, turn off the toggle and press “OK.” Everything you share on your account will be visible to everyone, and they can engage with it as well. Once more, doing this won’t expose your Instagram account.
