WIOCC, EASSy submarine cable owner, building new fibre network interconnecting Kenyan towns

WIOCC (West Indian Ocean Cable Company) the largest shareholder in EASSy submarine fibre-optic cable system has relaunched in Kenya with the completion of the Mombasa Metro Network, interconnecting all major data centres in Mombasa.

WIOCC is now building a protected National Long Distance (NLD) network between Nairobi and Mombasa and a Metro Network in Nairobi County set to be completed by the end of Q4 2024. The next phase, planned for Q2 2025, will see the network extended to other counties and the borders with neighbouring countries.

Our investments enhance the ability to interconnect traffic from the 2Africa cable to other major systems such as SEACOM, EASSy, DARE1, PEACE and TEAMS, offering diversity and flexible service delivery across multiple data centres based on our client requirements.”

The wholesaler, providing capacity to international telecoms, cloud operators, content providers and internet service providers within and out of Africa, is equipping Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Systems Integrators, Carriers, Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and other telcos with scalable, high-performance digital infrastructure.
