Leta, a Kenyan logistics tech startup, has successfully raised $5 million in seed funding to scale its AI-driven platform designed to help businesses transport goods more efficiently and cost-effectively across the African continent.

The funding round was led by European venture capital firm Speedinvest, with additional backing from Google’s Africa Investment Fund and Equator, a climate tech fund focused on Africa. The latest capital injection brings Leta’s total funding to approximately $8 million.

Boosting Supply Chain Efficiency with AI

Founded in 2021 by Nick Joshi, who also serves as the company’s CEO, Leta leverages artificial intelligence to optimize delivery routes, automate vehicle load planning, and cut down on fuel usage and operational costs. The startup’s solutions are designed for businesses operating in FMCG, e-commerce, distribution, and retail sectors.

Leta currently operates in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Nigeria and serves a fast-growing portfolio of customers looking to streamline their logistics and improve last-mile delivery performance.

Driving Expansion Across Africa

The newly raised capital will help Leta accelerate its expansion into additional African markets, enhance its AI capabilities, and strengthen partnerships with logistics providers. The startup also plans to bolster its team and scale up integrations with third-party fleet and warehouse management systems.

“We are on a mission to transform the movement of goods across Africa by making supply chains more data-driven and sustainable,” said Nick Joshi, founder and CEO of Leta.

Investors Backing Africa’s Green Logistics Future

With Equator’s focus on climate tech and Google’s Africa Investment Fund supporting digital innovation on the continent, Leta is well-positioned to not only enhance logistics efficiency but also contribute to reducing carbon emissions and driving sustainability within Africa’s supply chain networks.

Leta joins a growing number of African startups deploying advanced technology to solve long-standing inefficiencies in the logistics space, as demand for smart, eco-friendly delivery solutions continues to rise.
