How to use Google Chrome tab groups

There are different sorts of people around the world: tab minimalists who seem to have a few tabs open at a time, and tab collectors who have—significantly more. Even if you have an extremely powerful machine, dealing with so many tabs are a tiresome task in itself. We’re even trying to sort them across different browser windows, but the clutter only increases as we visit more and more websites. Tab groups for chrome allows users to organize their tabs into easily identifiable and color-coded groups.

Enable ‘Tab Groups’

  • Before you start, make sure you close and save all the tabs you’ve opened.
  • You will need to restart the browser once you have enabled it to be implemented.
  • Start the Google Chrome Browser on your PC device.
  • Locate the search bar at the edge of the screen in which you will normally see the web address.
  • Type the ‘chrome:/flags’.
  • You’ll see a long set of features that are still under experimentation.
  • You can find Tab Groups by scrolling through the entire list manually. Alternatively, in the search bar, you can type ‘#tab-groups.’
  • Once you have found the settings for the Tab Groups, look at the button on the right side of the description.
  • Press on it to see the drop-down menu.
  • Select Enabled to be able to use Tab Groups.
  • Pick the Blue Relaunch button at the bottom of your screen as soon as you have completed the steps correctly.
  • Your Chrome browser will be reloaded and implemented in your browser.
  • You can check to make sure that the function has been enabled by typing ‘chrome:/flags’ in the search bar.
  • You will see Tab Groups at the top of the list, and the drop-down menu has been changed to enabled.

How to implement and use it while we’re browsing the web:

  • To create a Tab Group, right-click the tab at the top of your window.
  • Select ‘Add to new group’ from the drop-down menu. A color will be given automatically.
  • To personalize your Tab Group, press on the colored circle next to your tab to change color or title of the tab group.
  • If you want to open a new tab under the same group, you can click on the colored circle and select the ‘New in-group tab.’
  • To create a new tab group, search the new Google Chrome tab.
  • If you want to remove the Tab Group and return all tabs to normal, click on the colored circle on the left side of the tab. Choose Ungroup.
  • If you want to close all tabs in a group, you can choose the option: close the group.
