Online payments firm PayPal is launching in Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and Zimbabwe and four other nations- Paragua, Belarus, Macedonia, Moldova, Monaco and Montenegro according to a new report by Reuters.
Going live in Nigeria, and the three other markets will be able to able to make payments through PayPal over their mobile phones and PCs.
Users in Nigeria will be able to register for a PayPal account and make payments to millions of sites worldwide to PayPal enabled merchants free of charge. The firm said it will be offering “send money” services at the moment for consumers to make payments for goods online.
PayPal’s launch comes just weeks after a number of entreprenuers launched a campaign petitioning the site to launch allow for payments by Nigeria-based business. Western Union also recently launched and Reuters is reporting that MasterCard Inc was working with the Nigerian government to launch in the country with the recent issue of national IDs.
The Ebay-owned firm is live in Kenya, Egypt and in over 190 markets.
