Kenya is Google’s first choice for its Google maps – street view in Africa. The service is very popular in other countries around the world. The feature allows a user to explore and navigate a neighborhood virtually through panoramic street-level images.

The company made this exciting announcement at the initial Google for Kenya, where it also highlighted its strategy and commitment to contribute to Kenya’s economic and social growth.

Google Street View images will initially cover the 9,500 km stretch collectively in Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Nakuru, Nyeri, and Malindi. The images will be available on Google Maps to every interested party.

Minister for Tourism and Wildlife, Najib Balala, said the map service would help the country’s tourism industry at a launch event in Nairobi. “Google Street View will bring Kenya to the world by enabling a global audience to virtually explore our cities, other urban centers and other places of interest and also bring the world to Kenya,” he said.
