Safaricom appoints Antony Gacanja as the new Network Director

Safaricom, the leading telco in Kenya has announced the appointment of Anthony Gacanja as the company’s new Network Director, starting from June 19, 2023.

Gacanja joins Safaricom from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), where he held the position of Director of Information Technology.

His responsibilities will encompass the design, construction, deployment, performance, and improvement of all network infrastructure.

As the network director, he will report directly to the Chief Technology and Information Officer.

According to a statement by Safaricom, Gacanja’s main objective will be to ensure an excellent quality of service for Safaricom customers.

“He will also oversee the management of existing Information System Services and the implementation of new systems.”

With over twenty years of experience, Mr Gacanja has a strong background in information technology governance, operations, cybersecurity, information risk assurance, and software development.

Before his role at CBK, Mr Gacanja held various positions at Safaricom, including Head of the Department for Technology Security.
