Rocket Internet’s foodpanda Launches In Czech Republic & Acquires 2nd Brazilian Competitor Megamenu.br

foodpanda_press-pictureRocket Internet’s global food delivery service has today launched in Czech Republic and acquired second Brazilian competitor MegaMenu in its latest target at global expansion; targeting over 3 billion people in 28 countries across 5 continents.
Just last week, foodpanda/hellofood acquired Brazilian competitor Jánamesa, following similar moves in Asia (Singapore-Dine) and Eastern Europe (Ételvitel KFT Hungary) earlier in the year. Rocket Internet’s hellofood has operations across Africa and is continually signing up restaurants in the continent’s cities to use its portal and delivery services to increase their sales.

According to Peter Varga, Co-Founder and Managing Director foodpanda Czech Republic, “We are taking a big step in entering another fast emerging market in the Czech Republic. I believe that our ability to move fast in capturing new markets is one of our biggest competitive advantages, and I am sure we will be proven right very soon in the Czech Republic.”

In Brazil, where foodpanda operates under the brand name hellofood, the company today announces the takeover of MegaMenu (megamenu.com.br). The operations of MegaMenu are centered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s second largest metropolitan area. MegaMenu’s 200 restaurants and 4,000 users will be integrated into www.hellofood.com.br.
