Vodafone and Samsung have come together and has unveiled a three month writing competition for children below the age of 15 so as to encourage innovation as well as thoughtful spending.
Children are expected to write on ‘what they can do with a Ghana cedi’. The most creative and realistic writer will go home with a Samsung galaxy tablet twice a week, with the ultimate winners receiving a full year scholarship.
At the end of it all, the partners will have given away 50 fully connected tablets. Entries will be assessed twice a week bi-weekly by team of judges who will look out for innovation, originality, clarity, composition and grammar and realistic ideas.
The entries are to be dropped off at any Vodafone retail shop all over Ghana or mailed to one Ghana team at Vodafone. A complete entry includes the essay accompanied with any used Vodafone top up card.
Heads of Brands and Corporate communications at Vodafone Ghana, Carmen Bruce-Annan, explained that the campaign was to encourage children to be innovative and creative.
“at Vodafone we take pride in being innovative and creative and the one Ghana products is one such innovation which redefined the market and set the pace for others to follow. Encouraging children to be thoughtful in their spending is essential in these times of austerity measures. It will also contribute towards making them grow into responsible adults,” he said.
This is a great way of installing innovation, creativity and a sense of competition in children; and also is a way to make sure Vodafone and Samsung stick in the young minds, which is good.
