MTN has launched two high quality Android smartphones in Nigeria. The affordable smartphones include MTN Sm@rt S720i and MTN Sm@rt Mini S620.
According to MTN Nigeria, the development was part of its plan to build a digital world and set up its leadership place within the telecommunications sector.
Kola Oyeyemi, the General Manager of Consumer Marketing, MTN stated: “The smartphones go for as low as N8, 000, which is a strategic plan to offer Nigerians the chance to own a high quality Android phone at the most affordable price. Generally, we are committed to the complete satisfaction of Nigerians and our customers as we continuously.”
According to Oyeyemi, the new low-priced MTN Sm@rt Mini S620 smartphone consists of 3.5″ screen, which runs on Android 4.2 OS with preloaded applications including Jumia, Music+, BBM, Facebook and Whatsapp in addition to free MTN SIM card. The smartphone also has a 4-Gigabyte in-built memory up scalable to 32 Gigabyte, a processor speed of 1GHz and a dual SIM slot.
“For customers who need higher processing screen and wider display screen, the MTN Sm@rt S720i provides a 1.3GHz processor and 4.0″ display. With the smartphones’ launch, Nigerians will get the chance to chat with family and friends using various instant messaging and communication platforms including Badoo, Whatsapp, BBM, Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, Skype and Tango as well as enjoy a million games and apps,” explained Oyeyemi.
Speaking at the launch, Oyeyemi stated that the smartphone is a long-awaited revolution within the Nigerian market as well as a game changer. It is among the different ways the company can take the lead in the delivery of a new digital world whilst making efforts to eradicate substandard phones within Nigeria.
