Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) has awarded Rwanda’s RSwitch, an international security standard compliance certification mark.
The Rwandan subsidiary of Millicom International Payments Solution, RSwitch formerly known as Simtel is the country’s main provider of bank-to-bank payment switching services.
Alex Kanayoge, the head of risk, audit and compliance at RSwitch, said the PCI DSS certification comes after “a rigorous audit exercise” that saw ControlCase, a United States-based qualified security assessor, validate the various frameworks in place that ensure customers carry out card-based transactions in a secured environment.
“RSwitch strives to come up with and apply innovative electronic payment solutions, while maintaining high level operational standards,” said Kanayoge.
PCI DSS is a global security standard that helps to prevent card and data fraud by evaluating payment account data security and assessing an organisation’s network architecture, software design, security policies, procedures and protective practices.
