olx mobileFamilies struggle to upgrade their furniture because they think everything out in the market is expensive and they cannot afford to buy them unless they save for one year.

However, a quick search on online classifieds site OLX shocked John Onyancha,* a PR manager who lives in Nairobi’s Langata Estate. Onyancha realized he could buy furtuniture for as cheap as Ksh 7,000 or 9,000 but because he wanted a designer sofa set he decided to give some more.

After a a thourough search, Onyancha came across a 17,000 worth 5-seater Sofa However, after vising OLX a couple of times, he realized he could buy the seats online instead of going to a carpenter to order for a similar set of seats which might even take longer to be made.

He wanted the grey and brown coloured sofa set to march with his brown tiles and grey walls. Still in great condition, Onyancha says  the seat will be the perfect gift to his wife and kids this Christmas. At just Ksh 17,000, Onyancha doesn’t have to spent all his saving on the mahogany seat, something he tried in other sites and realized he just couldn’t afford any of them.

He realizes he doesn’t need a million or a couple of hundreds of thousands to buy the seats for his family, somthing they have been asking for years.

“With my mobile phone, I spent nights cheking website to website looking for affordable seats,” he told TechMoran. “That ad on TV about OLX changed my life immiediately and I was astounded by the huge choice of furtniture I could buy off the site.”

“I wish I knew about OLX earlier, I would have saved a lot of money buying online that buying expensive items in malls and supermakets which at times are as good as those on OLX.”

OLXOLX, a general free online classifieds site makes it simple to meet, discuss and sell or buy from people near you. Sellers sign up for a profile, lists their ad which if approved by OLX goes live to the public marketplace, allowing just anyone to see the ad, call the seller and agree to meet to buy or just view the item.
