The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) has launched the competition for the BAKE awards to be held later this year. The competition that kicks off  today will see submissions accepted this coming weeks leading to February 10th 2017, the set deadline for submissions.

Submission of competitors will be followed by the Judging phase where the judges get to shortlist submissions in various categories to make it easier for voters. This will take place from February 11th to Feb 28th 2017. Online voting will be open to the public beginning 3rd March 2017 to May 1st 2017.

Now in its 6th year of celebrating Kenyan bloggers, the event has been dated 13th May 2017 at an undisclosed venue.

New Category

This year’s awards are inclusive of a new category,  Best Lifestyle Blog, which makes the total number of categories 20 after feedback from the blogging community. BAKE has also set a rule, that disqualifies bloggers who have competed and won three times in a row so as to give opportunity to other competitors .

Last year’s contest saw 4,899 blogs being submitted and over 500,000 votes recorded. Women took the day last year with bloggers such as Jamila El-Jabry (lifeinmombasa.com), Dr. Claire Kinuthia (theycallmedaktari.com), Maryann Waweru (mummytales.com), Rachael Muthoni (safari254.com), Diana Kaluhi (kaluhiskitchen.com) and Lucia Musau (luciamusau.com) emerging winners.
