NaijaSecCon: Nigeria’s Premier Cybersecurity Conference + Hackathon to Hold in May

With the rising cyber security issues in the country, Nigeria Security Conference 2017 (NaijaSecCon17) is poised to educate the participants on how to keep themselves secure.

According to organisers, the conference, which would hold on the 1st of May happens to be the first of its kind as there shall be display of practical hack sessions showcased and delivered by ethical hackers and security experts. The NaijaSecCon has also been tagged as Nigeria’s biggest hacker convention.

There is no doubt that cyber crime has being on the increase in the country in particular and the West African sub region in general, however the most prevalent have being the “Yahoo Yahoo” syndrome, perpetrated through various phishing and spearphishing scams. Several businesses have become victims to these scams and the need to know how these attacks are conducted, with a view to knowing how to avert such attacks, is the more reason why the NaijaSecCon17 is a must attend.

Businesses have continued to receive attacks in the form of ransomwares and the likes. Ransomwares are malicious programs created to carry out sophisticated attacks against businesses. Crippling of businesses is the mainstay of these malwares and the need to be on the defensive is very paramount.

Practical sessions on how these attacks are carried out shall be revealed during the presentations, which shall be brought live to you by experts in the field.

As an additive to the Conference, there shall be a Capture The Flag (CTF) competition, where there shall be a test of wills and skills by hackers and security experts on several challenges that cut across Reverse Engineering, Web Application Security, Cryptography, Network Security, Programming and Digital Forensics.

The CTF competition promises to rewards the winners with the sum of N200,000.00 duly donated by PhynxLab.
