eCommerce in Africa has has continued to enjoy growth and expansion, as entrepreneurs keep innovating and coming up with disruptive ideas. Over the years, we’ve seen eCommerce websites covering various niches, from fashion to food, electronics and many others.

You’ll probably not believe it when we tell you there’s an online store for just tyres.

Yes, tyres.

eTyres was launched in 2014 by Olaseni Odukoya to allow companies and individuals purchase vehicle tyres at the click of a button.

According to the founder, Etyresnigeria.com is different from provides users with more value, than what they’ll get from buying their tyres from road side tyre stores.

In his words, “Tyre stores do not have enough tyres. A good tyre store in Nigeria does not stock more than 300 tyres, which means only 20-30 fast moving tyre sizes are in stock. Etyresnigeria.com, on the other hand, being an online portal can accommodate massive variety and best prices. Local tyre dealers just stock fast moving SKUs and try to sell what they have, and then buy what they sell – imposing limitations of their capabilities on customer choice”.

The platform allows customers to research compare and review tyres from different tyre brands. They can also select the best tyre option for their vehicle based on the product brand, size and price.

Since its launch, eTyres has recorded success, as Nigerians seem to be embracing the idea of going online for their tyres.

The sale of tyres online might seem weird at first, but from the look of things, there are no longer weird ideas, as everyone is on the lookout for innovations that provide them with solutions, and eTyres has definitely not failed in this regard.
