Vodacom launches the Smart V8 and Smart N8 smartphones in South Africa

South African top telecommunication network Vodacom further delve deep into the smartphone scene as it launches two new smartphones in the country with 4G LTE support.

Vodacom’s tryout in the South Africa smartphone scene with the Vodafone was apparently welcomed by a stride of success. Confirming this is Vodacom’s chief officer for consumer sales, Jorge Mendes who revealed that the company has shipped more than 3 million units of its devices in the past. The South Africa telco company have decided to thread this path of success, hence the introduction of the new smartphone duo – Vodafone Smart V8 and Smart N8.

Both devices have beautiful body build and design but the Smart V8  seem to be the more appealing and premium of the duo. Also, being budget devices, they come with an affordable price tag.

Vodafone Smart N8

The Vodafone Smart N8 have highlight specifications of 5.0 inch 720p display, runs on the Android v7.0 Nougat OS, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB internal memory, 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6737 processor, fingerprint scanner on the rear, 13 MP primary shooter, 5 MP secondary camera and a 2,400 mAh battery. The Smart N8 will cost about 2,000 South African Rands (R2,000 ZAR).

Interestingly, Vodacom offers subscribers of its Vodacom uChoose Flexi 110 plan the opportunity to purchase the Vodafone Smart N8 and pay in installments – R129 in 24 months.

Vodafone Smart V8

The Vodacom Smart V8 on the other hand comes with bigger and better features. The N8 comes with a Snapdragon 435 processor and 3 GB of RAM. It also comes with a bigger display of 5.5 inch, 32 internal storage, 16 MP rear camera and an 8 MP lens upfront for selfies. The battery pack (3,000 mAh) is likewise bigger than that of the Smart N8.

Vodafone Smart V8

The Vodafone Smart V8 will cost R4,000 ZAR, twice the price of the Smart N8 and subscribers under the Vodacom’s uChoose Flexi 150 contract can pay R299 ZAR for the device over a period of 24 months.

Rumour has it that the Smart N8 and Smart V8 won’t be the last Vodacom devices we would be seeing this year but instead, two other devices – the Smart Tab N8 and Smart E8 will be unveiled by the company before the year runs out.
