HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has slashed the price of Nokia 1 Plus in Kenya in a move expected to increase its sales in the entry-level segment.
The phone was first announced early this year and was retailing for around Ksh 9,300. There are new brands launching in the market every day and the recent was Vivo, a sister company to OPPO and One Plus which recently launched its Y series smartphones in a number of markets including Nigeria, Kenya and Egypt.
Vivo, the world’s top 5 smartphone maker is competing TECNO, Infinix, iTel whose mojo in Africa has gradually fallen due to renewed competition from players such as Huawei, Samsung, Nokia and OPPO entering the mid-range market consumer segment.
