Tanzania Government Has Allegedly Blocked Access To Internet Ahead Of Elections

The Tanzanian Government has allegedly blocked access to internet ahead of elections.

President Magafuli has been labelled as a dictator and his worst enemies are bloggers and journalists. The freedom to express in Tanzania is not as easy as Kenya, fear has been spread and censoring seems to be happening right now.

Currently Magafuli has been accused of blocking internet access after rigging claims emerged. Tanzanian’s have gone to Twitter to complain as many have been forced to use VPNs to access sites. Tanzanian Twitter users wrote and said that they may be expecting tough times ahead as they claim that self-censorship has now become the norm.

We cannot confirm if their suspicions are true but a number of people have complained that WhatsApp calls cannot be made. The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority has also been asked to not interfere with the elections by the Tanzania Elections Watch.

Most Tanzanian citizens are currently infuriated and furiously ranting on Twitter, we will keep you in the loop as the story progresses.
