The Honor 50 Smartphone With Snapdragon 778 5G will be presented on June 16

It’s official! Chinese smartphone maker Honor has announced that its newest addition, the Honor 50, will be unveiled in Shanghai on June 16, 2021. This announcement is made in the wake of a short teasing video unveiled on the Chinese social network Sina Weibo.

Honor also announced that its 50 series will be equipped with the Snapdragon 778G 5G chip developed by Qualcomm. This innovation will place them among the first smartphones on the market to be equipped with them.

The Honor 50 reveals itself fleetingly

Retail lovers will have to be patient. It is in a very short video that the Chinese manufacturer unveiled some details of its latest smartphone: the Honor 50. 12 seconds of a play of shadow and light emphasizing the design, and more specifically on the camera of the phone, to create a link between the double ring of the camera and the zero of the 50 of the new series.

No additional details were revealed in this video by Honor. The company, now detached from its parent company Huawei after being sold for nearly 12.8 billion euros, is expected to present the Honor 50 the same month as the Huawei P50. The new Honor series, which should have been named 40 and which has simply been skipped, will be able to further establish the competition between the two products of the Middle Kingdom.

In terms of specs, the Honor 50, which should be available in three ranges, namely Standard, Pro and Pro+, will be in the first two versions equipped with the latest mid-range chip developed by Qualcomm, the Snapdragron 778G 5G. The last one could meanwhile count on the high-end version, the Snapdragon 888 .

More broadly, the Honor P50 will consist of a 50-megapixel rear camera while your selfies would be taken by a dual camera of 32 and 8 megapixels, a camera of 13 megapixels,  lens of 8 mpx and a 6.79-inch AMOLED screen.

The Pro+ version should have in its cheapest version a RAM of 8 GB and a storage of 128 GB. Finally, the smartphone would be powered by a 4,400 mAh battery requiring a wired charge of 66 W or by induction of 50 W.

As for potential prices, no information has yet been leaked. Honor should nevertheless take advantage of its sale to escape the American sanctions against Huawei and thus be able to reintegrate Google services, which should not fail to seduce potential buyers of the smartphone. It will therefore be necessary to wait until June 16, 2021 to know all the details and the date of availability of the new Honor 50.
