WhatsApp has been working on multi-device functionality for quite some time now, allowing users to access one account across many devices.
A fresh report provides insight into that feature, implying that it would soon be available to all WhatsApp users.
A fresh report from WABetaInfo gives a sneak peek at the upcoming functionality. The report includes a video of a user logging out of a WhatsApp account from a secondary device when the account is active. It’s worth noting that the sample video is the first to show multi-device support on iOS.
The new Log out option, according to the report, will allow users to disconnect their smartphone from the main WhatsApp account. On linked devices, the choice substitutes the Delete account option, however this could change in the future.
The multi-device WhatsApp feature is now only available in the 2.21.30.16 beta release. Both the WhatsApp app and the WhatsApp Web will have the feature.
Users will be able to use WhatsApp on multiple devices via WhatsApp Web, even if their main phone is not connected to the Internet. Users will be able to link up to four devices to their main WhatsApp account using the app. This limit may change in the future, according to WABetaInfo.
The feature “works without complications on both WhatsApp Messenger and Business versions,” according to the report, and it will be available for WhatsApp on Android as well. However, no precise release date has been set as of yet.
