Now it is time that we shift our attention to the wearables that will accompany them, namely the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds 2.
A new smartwatch, available in two versions, and a pair of wireless headphones carry active noise reduction technology on the entry-level. Here is what Samsung has concocted for its excellent August unpacking.
This is the big surprise from the brand that has captured my heart. I am talking about the Galaxy Watch 4. Samsung draws a definitive line on the Tizen OS, which animated its smartwatches and joins WearOSco-developed with Google.
What does this change? Pretty much everything. Much richer in applications and possibilities for synchronisation with a smartphone, WearOS allows the Galaxy Watch 4 to reach a particular milestone in terms of versatility. The best illustration of this new marriage: Google Maps will finally be usable independently on the watch.
The Watch 4 can also make you pass an electrocardiogram, calculate the oxygenation rate of the blood, and — and this is a first — to calculate the body mass of the user (BMI, muscle mass, body hydration rate). In other words: the watch could almost replace a connected scale, which blows us Samsung.
On the hardware side, the Watch 4 embeds the new Exynos W920 SoC from Samsung. Etched in 5 nm, it offers a doped performance of about 20% compared to the previous version. It is equipped with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage and benefits from a battery of 247 and 340 mAh depending on the model chosen (40 or 44 mm). The recharge also improves and takes only 1h40 to go from 0 to 100%.
Finally, the smartphone screen offers a diagonal of 1.2 or 1.3 inches, always in Super AMOLED, and protected by a glass Gorilla Glass DX. The watch is also IP68 certified.
The Galaxy Watch 4 will be available in four distinct models :
Galaxy Watch 4 Bluetooth: Ksh 34,457(40 mm) or KSH 34,457 (44 mm).
Galaxy Watch 4 4G: Ksh 40,861 (40 mm) or Ksh 44,407 (44 mm).
Galaxy Watch 4 Classic Bluetooth : ksh 47,266 (42 mm) or ksh 51,109 (46 mm).
Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 4G: KSH 53,671(42 mm) or KSH 63,293 (46mm).
