It is time that Samsung has taken the time to put the Galaxy Z Flip out during the launch event. And as for the flagship of the range, this new folding smartphone is distinguished by a radical price drop.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 promises to be Ksh 135,655 against Ksh 148,192 for the previous model. Is a tumble synonymous with a drop in range?  Let’s see all this together.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3: a high-end assumed

There he is, all gleaming. But the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is no less a racing beast. Like its big brother, the Z Fold 3, the phone carbide Snapdragon 888 integrates an AMOLED screen clocked at 120 Hz.

The only shadow on the painting would be more on the side of photography. Indeed, Samsung wants its ” S ” range to keep the hunt for photographic innovation. So we stay here on a duo of sensors (ultra-wide-angle and wide-angle) of 12 megapixels. The same as on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The same since the Galaxy S10.

With the Fold 3, this Z Flip 3 is also the first to have the IPX8 waterproof certification. Why not 68? For the simple and good reason that the current design of folding smartphones does not allow them to be resistant to dust. It can nevertheless be immersed at a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes in freshwater. Enough to save you a few sweats if you are the clumsy type.

But the main attraction of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 compared to its predecessor jumps directly into our eyes: it is its new secondary screen, four times larger than the ridiculous pellet to which we were entitled on the original Flip.

Just as the front screen of the Galaxy Fold was challenging to use, that of the Z Flip premier of the name was very little noticeable. Far too small to be anything other than an advanced pager, it did not offer the slightest possibility of interaction.

It is fixed on this new model, assures us Samsung. And for a good reason: the screen now measures 1.9 inches and allows not only to display the notifications pads but also to consult them without having to open the phone. Better: you can also access more shortcuts, precisely as using the dedicated panel on your unfolded smartphone. In short: the front screen becomes-a little — more than a gadget, and that’s all the better.

More than jewels of technology, folding smartphones are mostly impossible puzzles for application developers. Luckily, Samsung is instead the type to swim alone in its pool at the moment, and programmers do not have to consider too many different models to adapt their applications to these new screens.

The unique feature of the Z Flip is its famous Flex Mode, which allows displaying (like a Nintendo DS, if that speaks to you) part of the information on the upper part of the screen and the other part at the bottom (under the fold).

One of the most obvious use cases is, in particular, the taking of photos or the Visio. You can put your smartphone on a table by straightening the screen and tilt it as you wish without having to stall your smartphone to hold in position.

Also, Samsung has worked a lot in partnership with developers to make its Flex Mode more globally compatible on flagship applications. Instagram, for example, now supports it.
