TikTok has hit one billion active users globally who come to TikTok every month to be entertained as they learn, laugh, or discover something new. The short video app has exploded in popularity over the past five years since it was launched in early 2016.
The most popular use of the app was to create short videos where they were lip-syncing and dancing that has since attracted a large fan base. In the early pandemic days, TikTok saw a sharp rise in user downloads as most people turned to the application for entertainment during the lockdowns. As of now, an average user spends 52 minutes per day on the application.

As of June 2021, 60 per cent of TikTok users were between the ages of 16 and 24 while almost 50 per cent of its global population is under 34 years.
