How to lock WhatsApp on Android
You can use the fingerprint reader on your Android phone to ensure that only you can open the app.
- On your Android device, launch WhatsApp.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the screen, then select Settings.
- Select Account.
- Select Privacy.
- Tap Fingerprint Lock at the bottom of the screen.
- Swipe the button to the right on the Fingerprint lock screen to enable Unlock with a fingerprint. You must confirm your fingerprint by touching the sensor with one of the fingers registered with the phone.
- Select how quickly the app requires Face ID to re-enter the app if it is closed. You have the option of selecting Immediately, After 1 Minute, or After 30 Minutes.
When you enable the fingerprint lock, you can specify how long it takes before requiring a fingerprint to unlock the app.
How to lock WhatsApp on iPhone
Depending on the model of your iPhone, you can use Face ID or Touch ID to lock WhatsApp. The procedure is the same regardless of which iPhone you have.
- On your iPhone, launch WhatsApp.
- In the bottom right corner of the screen, tap Settings.
- Select Account.
- Select Privacy.
- Tap Screen Lock at the bottom of the screen.
Require Face ID or Require Touch ID will appear on the Screen Lock page. To activate this security feature, swipe the button to the right.
Select how quickly the app requires Face ID to re-enter the app if it is closed. You have the option of selecting Immediately, After 1 Minute, After 15 Minutes, or After 1 Hour.
When you enable the Face ID or Touch ID lock, you can choose how long the app should wait before requiring an unlock.
