MojaPay, a South African fintech startup, has released a new app that intends to revolutionize how individuals pay, receive, and save money.

The app allows users to transact without incurring excessive banking fees, even if they do not have a bank account or a smartphone. Users can still buy prepaid electricity and water, as well as pay for DStv and buy airtime on all major networks. Users can also send and receive money and join mojaPay as an agent or merchant to start their own business.

“mojaPay is not just a digital app; it’s a platform that gives those who are often marginalised and  unseen in society an opportunity to contribute to making their communities a thriving economic  space. Many people from disadvantaged communities are often left behind and kept in those dire  conditions by the lack of access that is increasingly driven by digitisation, and we at mojaPay say it’s  about time our people become active participants in both the formal and informal financial  ecosystems,” said co-founders Kagiso Dichabe and Xolisa Vuza.

MojaPay, formerly known as digiToken and launched last year to allow consumers buy items like electricity and airtime online, has rebranded and improved to give unbanked businesses and individuals seamless transactions and payments.
