If you’re a fan of Marvel’s Netflix shows, you’ll want to make sure you watch them all before they’re removed on February 28, 2022.
According to What’s on Netflix, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Punisher, and The Defenders will all leave Netflix as the streaming service’s contract expires at the end of February. The Verge spoke with Netflix and Disney representatives who confirmed the report.
As a result, these critically acclaimed shows are in a state of limbo, with no way of knowing where they will end up once they are removed from Netflix’s catalog. Will Disney acquire them and make them available on Disney+? Will Netflix enter into a new agreement to reintroduce it to the service? At this point, all we can do is speculate on the properties’ future.
Some Netflix show characters have begun to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For example, Charlie Cox’s fantastic Daredevil portrayal made an appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That could be the first indication that Disney is ready to take over The Defenders and integrate them into the rest of the Marvel universe.
Daredevil was released in 2015, so Netflix subscribers have had plenty of time to watch it. However, it is still disappointing to see so many high-quality shows without a home, at least for the time being. It would be a shame if these shows were simply lost to history, so let’s hope they resurface somewhere.
