Spotify is testibg a feature that lets select artists promote thriod pary NFT offerings on their profiles. The feature is currently available to a select group of users in the US and will be made available after a successful pilot.
The company has reportedly selected American DJ Steve Aoki and the Wombat Band to take part in the test. Both of them are early adopters of the NFTs.
Spotify told Music Ally that they are running a test which will help a small group of artists promote their extstsing third party NFT offerings via their profiles. Artistses will be able to tap through the view and buy them from external; marektplaces.
Spofity will not be taking any cut from the NFT sales. The test is only available for atritss who sale NFTs to promote them on its service. The results got from the survey will give spotify a way forward to adopt or ditch NFTs in the future.
Some artistes took to twitter to share their frustration in the service and vowed to ditch spotify if they went ahead to adopt NFTs
Spotify says, “We routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve artist and fan experiences. Some of those tests end up paving the way for a broader experience and others serve only as an important learning.”
Spotify already allows artostes to promote merch and tickets on their spoifty profiles which has turned out fine, besides the uproar, lets wait to see how it works out in the next few days.
