Ferrari has confirmed that the Purosangue, Italian for “thoroughbred,” will make its production form debut on September 13th. The confirmation came in the form of a teaser that shows the crossover’s headlights and a sample of the engine note.
The leaked spy photos of the car in testing show that the Purosangue will be more of a sporty crossover than a rugged SUV, as one would expect from a vehicle bearing the Ferrari logo.
It looks more like a taller version of the GTC4 Lusso hatchback, which it directly replaces.
The Purosangue is built on a new front mid-engine platform developed by Ferrari for grand touring models. The company has been quiet on specs, but a V-12 engine is expected at launch.
An electrified option based on Ferrari’s V-8 or possibly its new V-6 is also expected at some point. Interestingly, there are rumors that Ferrari’s first electric vehicle, due around 2025, will also be a crossover, possibly a Purosangue variant.
Ferrari Purosangue’s deliveries are expected to begin later this year or early next
