Apple has announced that the iPadOS 16 will be released on Monday, October 24. Last month, Apple released iOS 16 but did not simultaneously release iPadOS 16, for the first time since separating its phone OS from its tablet OS.

The cause of the delay is said to be the newly announced Stage Manager multitasking feature, which will be accessible for iPads powered by M1 and M2 chipsets.

Apple has set October 24 as the release date of iPadOS 16, but it could come as iPadOS 16.1 with the iOS 16.1 update, which allows the two operating systems’ versions back into sync.

The update will be available for the vanilla iPad (5th generation and later), the iPad mini (5th generation and later), the iPad Air (3rd generation and later), as well as all iPad Pro models.
