LG Electronics, having achieved success with several laundromats in Nairobi, is now extending its services to the Coast region.
During the LG Electronics Inaugural Commercial Laundry Seminar held in Mombasa, Dongwon Lee, the company’s East Africa Managing Director, expressed that the commercial laundry industry has demonstrated impressive resilience and consistent growth.
Kenya is expected to experience a surge in demand for professional laundry services by the end of 2023, driven by rapid urbanization.
Consequently, the country’s commercial laundry industry has become highly attractive to entrepreneurs and investors.
Mr Lee stated, “The increasing dependence on laundromats as a convenient and time-saving solution presents an exceptional opportunity for investors to establish highly profitable ventures. Today’s consumers prioritize convenience and quality, and by investing in the commercial laundry sector, entrepreneurs can meet these demands while delivering top-notch services.”
“At LG, we are dedicated to providing the best and most advanced technical solutions for commercial use, specifically tailored to meet the business needs of investors,” he added.
Entrepreneurs and investors from various industries who attended the seminar had the opportunity to explore the latest LG Commercial Laundry range, which includes Smart Commercial washers in sizes 10.5Kg and 15Kg.
In April of the previous year, LG Electronics, Avana Laundromats and Home appliances distributors Hotpoint collaborated to offer financing options to entrepreneurs interested in laundromats.
Avana Laundromat also provided franchising opportunities under its brand.
The objective was to establish at least 1000 laundromats across the country within the next five years, with 50 laundromats expected to be operational by the end of 2022.
The Head of B2B and Air Conditioning Business at Hotpoint, Ravi Kanani noted the success of laundromats since the pilot project launch.
“Over 100 laundromats have opened in different parts of Nairobi. We anticipate the opening of approximately 1000 new laundromats across the country in the next three years, as they do not require significant capital investment for the investors,” he said.
The seminar is part of LG Electronics EA’s commitment to promoting the expansion of Smart Laundromats throughout the country and empowering entrepreneurs in the commercial laundry industry.
Through strategic partnerships, the company has already contributed to the establishment of laundromats in various neighbourhoods of Nairobi, including Langata, Buruburu, TRM, Waiyaki Way and Hurlingham, among others.
