In a bid to further empower its creators and community, TikTok has unveiled an innovative addition to its platform, Text Posts.

According to a TikTok blog post, “The new feature expands the possibilities for content creation, giving users a dedicated space to share their ideas and express their creativity through written content.”

The video-sharing giant has long been known for its captivating short-form videos, but with the introduction of Text Posts, TikTok aims to diversify the way users can express themselves. 

Now, creators can go beyond videos and images to share their stories, poems, recipes and other written works with their audience.

The process of creating a Text Post is simple and user-friendly. Upon accessing the Camera page, creators will find three options: photo, video, and text. 

By selecting the text option, users are redirected to the text creation page, where they can type out the content of their posts.

To ensure that text posts are just as dynamic and engaging as video or photo posts, TikTok has incorporated several customization features.

“Creators can add sound to their text posts, allowing readers to groove to tunes while they explore the written content. Additionally, stickers can be added to enhance the text and add a touch of pizazz. Tags and hashtags can also be included to connect with other accounts or join relevant topics and trends.”

 Furthermore, a range of background colours are available, enabling creators to make their text pop and stand out.

The flexibility of Text Posts is further enhanced by the ability to save drafts for later editing or discard them entirely, just like with video or photo posts. This ensures that creators have the freedom to refine their written content before sharing it with the TikTok community.

“We’re excited to see what our community will create with text posts, a new way to express and share your creativity on TikTok,” said a TikTok spokesperson.
