Faraja is a new interest-free loan program offered by Safaricom PLC that may be used to pay for products and services. Millions of Safaricom members should be able to shop for items up to Sh100,000 and pay later thanks to the service.
Users of Faraja can purchase items for as little as Ksh 20 and as much as Ksh 100,000. This loan carries no additional fees, in contrast to other credit products.
There aren’t many businesses now using the Faraja lending option. These businesses include Citi Walk, Naivas Supermarkets, and Good Life Pharmacy.
How to use Safaricom to access Faraja
- Dial Faraja at *799# to join.
- Choose OPT-In from the menu.
- To obtain your Faraja Limit, enter your Safaricom M-Pesa PIN.
- Dial *799# and choose Lipa na Mpesa – Buy Goods and Services or Paybill to make a payment to a merchant.
- Enter in how much you want to spend.
- To complete a transaction, enter your M-Pesa PIN.
If your transaction is unsuccessful or successful, Safaricom will send you an SMS.
How to pay back Faraja Loan?
From your Safaricom line, dial *799#.
Select the transaction you wish to pay for, then click “Send.”
Press send after entering your MPESA PIN.
Accept the transaction or reject it.
Once your offer has been accepted, you will receive an SMS confirming the terms of the credit transaction, the payment amount, and the updated balance.
All eligible Safaricom customers may apply for the Faraja loan. The subscribers must, meanwhile, have an active Safaricom line. The borrower’s credit score will decide the loan limit. Faraja can only be accessed through the Buy Goods (Till Number) and Paybill Number options in Lipa Na Mpesa, in contrast to Fuliza, which enables users to send money.
