In an exciting development this week, Threads, the messaging app developed by Meta, has unveiled a series of new updates aimed at enhancing user experience and functionality.

One of the most notable additions is the ability to directly share posts to Instagram Direct Messages (DMs)

“This update bridges the gap between the two platforms, enabling seamless sharing of content from a user’s Threads feed to their Instagram conversations. Now, Threads users can effortlessly curate and dispatch their favourite posts, photos, and videos directly to their Instagram contacts, fostering even deeper connections and conversations.”

Another exciting feature that has been rolled out is the introduction of custom alt-text for photos and videos

“This functionality represents a significant step forward in making Threads more inclusive and accessible. Users now can add descriptive alt-text to their multimedia content, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the visuals for individuals who rely on screen readers or have other accessibility needs. This move reflects Threads’ commitment to fostering a more inclusive online environment.”

Furthermore, Threads users will now find a new mention button at their disposal. This button streamlines the process of mentioning another user’s account within a Thread. With a simple click, users can tag friends, family members, or colleagues in their conversations, ensuring that relevant parties are promptly notified and engaged in the discussions.
