The government has committed to opening 290 additional Huduma Centers in response to concerns about poor service delivery made around the nation. This initiative aims to establish a Huduma Center in each and every Kenyan constituency.
There are 52 Huduma Centers currently located all throughout the country. There are five centers in Nairobi, for example, thus the distribution is not even. Some communities will have more than one Huduma Center thanks to the installation of 290 Huduma Centers. This, according to the government, will bring services closer to Kenyans.
The announcement was made at the Shanzu Mombasa location’s first Huduma Center Managers’ Conference. The theme of the conference was “Huduma Kenya in the Digital Era.” In order to improve service delivery, initiatives to digitize government services are in line with the topic.
“Your dedication to innovation hasn’t gone unnoticed,” the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action said to the managers as she presided over the ceremony. It is definitely wonderful that service delivery has improved and now includes services like Service by Appointment and Track My Service.
The Cabinet Secretary noted that some Kenyans need more in-person support, notably those who are digitally challenged and people with impairments. She therefore urged the Huduma Centre administrators to keep an eye out for guests who needed assistance and provide it right away.
However, a few members of the public have voiced complaints about delays. A select handful have vented on social media.
Nevertheless, Huduma Kenya has implemented a number of changes aimed at enhancing service performance. They have increased call center hours, set appointments to visit centers, and extended operating hours in 18 high-traffic centers only this year. They have also updated their website.
290 additional Huduma centers will strengthen the current advancements even more. The cabinet secretary reminded her audience that this proposal would be implemented with the help of parliament. This is because parliamentary approval will be required for the budget.
