“Mr Okwiri, known for his dynamic and visionary leadership style, is committed to instigating significant transformative changes. He boasts a successful history of executing large-scale strategic infrastructure and innovation initiatives, leveraging a variety of resource models,” the organization responsible for implementing the Konza Technopolis project noted.

Mr Okwiri, who has served as the acting CEO for the past ten months, takes over the role from Eng. John Tanui, assumed the position of Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information Communication and the Digital Economy last year.

In his new role, Mr Okwiri will bear the responsibility of providing strategic direction to Konza Technopolis, aiming to realize its vision of becoming a prominent global Technopolis and innovation hub.

Throughout his career, Mr Okwiri has played a pivotal role in the successful delivery of significant projects at Konza Technopolis, including the completion of Konza Phase 1 Horizontal Infrastructure and the establishment of the Kenya Advance Institute of Science and Technology.

Additionally, he was instrumental in securing resources for the construction of a tier 3 National Data Center, thereby revolutionizing Kenya’s cloud infrastructure and Data Center services.

Notably, he also secured the hosting rights for the 41st International Association of Science Parks (IAPS) 2024 Conference, a significant achievement for Konza Technopolis.

Mr Okwiri brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role, holding an MBA in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from the University of Nairobi, along with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.

He is a respected Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS-UK) and the Kenya Institute of Supplies and Management (MKISM). Furthermore, he holds certification as a FIDIC Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) Expert.

“The board of KoTDA, as well as the organization’s management and staff, extend their warmest congratulations to Mr Okwiri on his appointment and wish him every success as he embarks on the journey to make Africa’s Silicon Savanna vision a reality.”
