Obtain the necessary paperwork
- Get a medical report from any government-recognized hospitals first to confirm the person’s impairment or disabilities. The purpose of the report is to determine the kind, degree, and primary cause of the disability. A person with a disability is, by definition, a person who has a physical, sensory, mental, or other impairment, such as any visual, hearing, learning, or bodily incapacity, that has a negative influence on participation in social, economic, or environmental spheres.
- After being given new citizenship status in Kenya, those with disabilities above the age of 18 need get a certificate of good behaviour.
Application forms are available at the Sub-County Gender & Social Development Offices.
- To submit an application, go to the Gender & Social Development Offices in the sub county. People who meet the criteria for a PWD are registered at the sub county level.
- You will receive an Individual Registration Form from the Sub-County Gender & Social Development Officer (SCGSDO). Form for individual registration
- You must fill out the form and give it to the Sub-county Gender & Social Development Officer (SC GSDO) together with the medical report and any necessary documentation.
These documents consist of:
- Medical Assessment report from the Government Gazetted Hospitals
- Copy of Passport/ ID card
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Proof of lawful residence in Kenya
- Copy of parent’s/legal guardian certificate of registration
- Certificate of good conduct for children above 18 Years
- A copy of the certificate of police clearance
- The Sub-County Gender & Social Development Officer (SCGSDO) then completes registration. SCGSDOs then send the registration forms to the council.
- Registration details are available on the day of application.
To Apply Online:
First, submit an online application.
- In the Government of Kenya Single Sign On portal, create a login account.portal eFNS
- You can access the eFNS site by logging in using the account you generated above.
- After logging in, click the “Apply now” link on the eFNS page.
- Select the Application by Persons with Disability tab by clicking the “Submit Applications” option.
- Verify if you possess the necessary documentation by:
- Copy of Passport
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Proof of lawful residence in Kenya
- Copy of parent’s/legal guardian certificate of registration
- Medical certificate on disability
- Certificate of good conduct for children above 18 Years
- Applicants must ensure that they are lawfully present in the country as they wait for application to be finalized
- Copy of the Police Clearance Certificate
- Before applying, make sure you have the necessary paperwork or prerequisites and that you meet the requirements. To apply, click the “Apply Now” button on your right.
- Complete the essential fields, then upload your passport photo and police clearance document. The “continue” option must be clicked in order to print your application.
- Then, print your completed application and deliver it to the Kenyan missions abroad or the immigration department offices in Kenya.
- To complete an application, go to an immigration office or a Kenyan mission abroad.
You must visit an immigration office in Nairobi, Mombasa, or Kisumu, or a Kenyan mission abroad, after printing the application and invoice, to pick them up and submit them for processing.
The following paperwork needs to be sent to the offices.

- Medical certificate on disability

You will receive your PWD information right away after submitting your registration application.
